Choosing a habitat to research
- World Biomes This website, from a commercial organisation, has been included because it has a useful map showing where different habitats are found across the world.
- Fact Monster A basic introduction to each of the world’s biomes. From a company which sells educational resources
- University of California This webpage has links which will take you to simple, clear explanations of the world’s main biomes
Missouri Botanical Garden Excellent, well laid-out information. Use the links on the left hand side of the page for more information on each habitat. Highly recommended
- Exploring Nature This website has a good introduction to the various habitats, or biomes, with maps and information about the species of animas and plants which can be found in each. Developed by a science academic. To view pages properly, you need a subscription. If you think our Library should pay for a subscription to this site, please let Ms Newbury know
- National Geographic Information on all the major habitats, with great photos and videos, from National Geographic
- Enchanted Learning This website has lots of adverts, and the layout could be better, but it has some good information on habitats, and is particularly good for information on animals which can be found in each habitat. From an educational company
