Mathemagics

Our S2 and S3 pupils were treated to a magic show, with mathematical links, from David Ennis. David is an award winning magician who is a member of the The Magic Circle and The International Brotherhood of Magicians. A huge thank you to David for giving up his time to entertain and perplex us!

Sumdog Competition

The most recent North Ayrshire Sumdog competition finished with Cameron Ironmonger and Nathan Marshall being the 1st and 2nd best in the authority wide competition. Cameron scored an amazing 999/1000 and Nathan 977/1000. Corin Evans and Amy McClelland also made the top 50. Well done to these four and all the others who took part.

 

Pi Day

On Thursday 14th March we had our S1 Pi recital competition and the results were the following:

1st – Josh Hill 116 decimal places

2nd – Sally Amon 107 decimal places

3rd – Mungo Boyle 71 decimal places

4th – Maria McKechnie 60 decimal places

5th – Sarah Convery 47 decimal places

6th – Mia Stevenson 32 decimal places

Well done to all involved, very impressive!

Sumdog Champion

Congratulations to Cameron in S1 who recently won the North Ayrshire Sumdog Competition. Here he is pictured with his personalised Santa from Mrs Lunday. Well done Cameron!


 

Enterprising Maths

Congratulations to Cameron, Archie, Peter and Sean who recently took part in the National Enterprising Maths Competition at the Glasgow Science Centre. The reached this event following successful qualification from the North Ayrshire competition. Well done boys and thank you to Mrs Lunday for taking the team to both events.

 

Calculators

Please note that a scientific calculator is essential for use in SQA maths exams.  It is therefore recommended that everyone has a calculator from S3 onwards.
