ECO                                                                                                                                Gateside have successfully renewed their Eco Schools status and received their 5th Green Flag in June 2022.  This is a great achievement for the school and we must thank the dedication of the pupils, staff, parents and local community helpers for making this possible.  We will be continuing to work on Eco and work towards maintaining our green flag status.

ACTIVATORS /SPORTS COMMITTEE                                                                           Gateside Primary have maintained their Gold Sport Scotland Award for their sporting achievements  in 2018-2021.  We must thank all the staff, parents and past pupils who take after school clubs and assist with transporting our pupils to and from events.    Without your help, achieving this would have been impossible.  We look forward to maintaining this high standard for our application this session.

RIGHTS RESPECTING/PUPIL COUNCIL                                                               We are continuing our journey to renew our  Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award and are working towards the Silver and potentially Gold Award.  All classes have class charters and we also have a whole school charter, lunch hall charter and playground charter.  Each month we focus on one right and children take part in activities to develop their understanding of it.  We believe at Gateside that it is important to treat people the way we want to be treated!

FAIR TRADE                                                                                                                        We currently have our Fair Achiever Award after successfully holding Fair Trade bake offs and promoting Fairtrade across the school and community during Fairtrade Fortnight.  The committee will be running activities to continue to promote and develop understanding in the school during assemblies.  They also hope to hold another fair trade Bake off/Coffee afternoon this session.

JRSO                                                                                                                                     Our committee is working hard to keep our school gates safe at the moments and are patrolling in the morning with he help of Mrs Cairns to encourage safe parking and slow driving past the school.  Look out for a competition for the whole school soon.
