The activities continue as Primary 7 worked together, yesterday evening, to study and build volcanoes on the beach of Lamlash Bay. We also learned about the geology of Arran, and how the island has been formed over millions of years.
Today, we ventured out onto the water and into the sky. We used kayaks to explore the bay, working towards an official paddle qualification and having a lot of fun practicing our water skills and balance. Also, we went rock climbing on the centre’s 7 metre climbing wall. We were all very resilient, motivated individuals and our confidence grew as we scaled to new heights and supported each other to face our fears. All in all, it has been a fantastically successful day ahead of some games and a disco on our final night!
As expected, Primary 7 have had an action packed day of activities on the island. The weather hasn’t stopped us for a second and we’ve all had great fun.
On our Rainforest Ramble, we learned about the type of environment required to allow many plant species to exist and thrive, as well as some of the common wildlife found in this type of habitat. We also visited the COAST centre to learn about the marine conservation efforts promoted by the local area. Finally, we went on a Cave Crawl, learning about the geology of Arran and getting quite mucky at the same time.
Primary 7 have arrived in Arran and have been greeted by the wonderful team over here at the AOEC. We enjoyed our ferry crossing and settled into our new digs having been fed a lovely lunch and dinner.
This afternoon, we learned about food chains, prey and predators and the key links between animals in our immediate natural environment. We put our knowledge into practice in the Survival Game, enjoying our new surroundings and the opportunity to hunt and be hunted. A fantastic start to an exciting trip together.
