UNDERSTANDING MUSIC – There are also lots of Understanding Music PowerPoints on google classroom that will take you through different periods of music and help you to understand the music you are learning. Take your time to work through these and make notes in your jotter.
PERFORMING – There’s also a lot of performing materials been uploaded to various google classrooms – if you require any help with this or need further resources then please don’t hesitate to ask, we are here to help!
COMPOSING – there are a number of music theory tasks below, but if you want to experiment with composing and/or arranging, then you could download Sibelius (Avid are giving you a 90 day free trial because of everything that’s happening just now). https://www.avid.com/sibelius.

TASK 1: Here is a useful link for ANY pupil in Ardrossan Academy from S4 through to S6. The site contains a range of informative music education videos/tasks for you to undertake at home.
TASK 2: Here are links to websites that explain music ‘concepts’. These are key vocabulary words you need to learn as part of your music course. As a general rule pupils should learn the following key words:
S4 pupils. National 5 pupils – you should work your way through ALL concepts to prepare for Higher next session. National 4 pupils – you should work your way through all concepts, apart from Higher ones. Especially if you are intending to do National 5 music next session.
S5/S6 pupils. If you’re currently National 5 and thinking about doing Higher music next year, start working through all the concepts. If you are currently Higher and thinking about Advanced Higher next year, again work through all the concepts.
Nat 4, 5 and Higher Music pupils. Even though you will not be sitting an exam this year, many of you will be thinking about doing National 5, Higher or even Advanced Higher music next session. Therefore, you MUST continue to revise your music concepts.
