NC Sports and Fitness

What is the Sport and Fitness course?

Our NC Sport & Fitness course at Level 5 is a mixture of practical and theory based learning. Those achieving the whole award would receive 72 SCQF points – three times that of a whole individual National 5 course. Some the units covered include: Sporting Activity Participation and Performance, Sports Officiating and Organisation, Human Anatomy, Physiology and Physical Activity, Contemporary Fitness and Exercise Training Methods: An Introduction, Communication, and information and Communication Technology.

The evidence gathered throughout the course will also allow pupils who haven’t already attained N4 PE, to do so.

As this is a NC course, there are a large number of units to cover before the whole course award can be achieved. We won’t be able to complete all mandatory units over the course of one year.

We strongly recommend those electing to study NC Sport & Fitness, to consider it as a 2 year course in the Senior Phase. This will give candidates enough time to achieve the whole National Certificate.
