People and Society

This course gives learners a grounding in some of the key skills that are required for further study in all of the Social Subjects, Social Sciences and RME.  It allows students to learn about a range of different ideas and concepts that feature in these Social Subjects, such as the impact of new technologies on our landscape or societies, or ways to tackle inequality on different groups in society.  The course will be based around developing 3 main skills:

  • Researching and selecting evidence from two or more reliable sources
  • Comparing and contrasting two or more different options or solutions
  • Making and justifying a decision based on evidence.

Progression from this course should be to National 3 or 4 in Social Subjects (History, Geography, Modern Studies or RMPS).
