Communication and Literature 1

What is this Course?

This Level 6 course consists of two units. The first unit, Communication, is designed to provide you with skills in understanding, analysing, evaluating and using complex, formal English in a range of written and spoken forms. The second unit, Literature 1, is concerned with the reading of literature and with responding critically to that reading. You will read and learn about a variety of complex literary texts from different genres. A high level of analytical reading skill will be developed as texts are studied, analysed and evaluated.

Some further and higher education institutions accept the combination of both of these qualifications as an alternative to Higher English.

This course is best for those who have N5 English and who want to continue to develop their knowledge and skills but do not specifically require Higher English in S5. It is possible to progress to Higher English in S6.
