We are currently in the stages of rebuilding the igloo as it took a tumble, but in the early stages the children have been doing a lot of work discussing the igloo and a floor book is in the process of being created around all their ideas. Just to give you a heads up for our next fundraising venture, instead of being at the end of January and the end of February, we are going to combine the 2 months and have a valentines themed fundraiser instead. On the 1st of February we are going to open up a diary for a “Guess the Bear’s Birthday” competition with the prize being a valentine’s themed gift wrapped Teddy (to keep for yourself or give to a loved one). A date in the diary will cost £1 each and Teddy’s birthday will be drawn by one of the nursery children on the morning of the Thursday before Valentine’s day, (with Friday being the mid term holiday).
We will also be holding our Valentine’s themed read and play session in the week before Valentine’s day, date and time to be arranged. We hope to see you there.

Happy New Year to everyone. We welcome all the children back and hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Holiday, We also welcome all the new children who are starting with us this afternoon. We look forward to meeting you all and getting this term started.
This term, to begin with, we are looking at Winter under the context name of “Frozen”. We will be doing wintery themed crafts and the continuous provision over the next few weeks will reflect aspects of Winter and the characters from the Disney film “Frozen”. We are building an igloo for the role play corner out of milk bottles and for this we still require your help. Please continue to collect 4 pint/ 2 litre milk bottles and hand them in to staff.

This week the children are making black pen drawings about their Christmas Holiday with their accompanying story being scribed by staff. We look forward to hearing all their exciting news! We also wish to get started on individual calendars for the children to take home with some seasonal art work displayed on it.
We have decided, following the responses from the questionnaire issued last term that we will not be switching sides at collection times as we feel this will unsettle some of the children who are happy with the routine that we have in place, and out of the 34 responses, 8 would prefer to collect from their current location, 4 would like to swap location and 22 had no preference and would be happy with any decision made. So with this in mind we will continue to operate as before with children being collected from the hall or snack room, and we urge parents to please feel free to look around the nursery at drop off or collection times at the available activities and the art work on display. I am sure the children would love the responsibility of accompanying you around the nursery and showing you what they like to do.

The morning children had a great time at their party, and they all looked fantastic in their party clothes. We played ring games, pass the parcel and musical bumps, had a delicious party tea and rounded off the morning with a visit and gifts from Santa.
On Monday 21st December the morning children visited the residents at Hanover Court to sing our nativity and Christmas songs. They did very well and the residents all thoroughly enjoyed seeing their costumes, listening to their songs and chatting with the children afterwards.
A great time was had by all at our Nursery Christmas Parties, with a special visit from Santa Claus at the end, with presents for all the children. We played pass the parcel, musical bumps and danced to Christmas music, followed by a delicious party tea. Photos are on the morning and afternoon pages.
There was a very successful sale of decorations made by children and hamper raffle tickets before and after our nativity on Friday 18th December. The tickets for the hampers will be drawn on Tuesday morning! Good luck!
Along with our gifts and treats for sale at the Nativity on Friday, we will also be opening a raffle for a hamper of goodies. The raffle will run until the last day of term and the winning ticket will be drawn on the morning of Tuesday 22nd (the last day of term). Best of luck!
