My primary 7s are ready to leave for big school. I found this recording of Shakespeare’s sonnet 18 we made when they were wee primary ones. It brought a tear to my eye.

Alves Litter Pick 2017

The litter pick was organised by the Eco group. We started with an assembly to let pupils know what they would be doing during the litter pick. The school was split into groups and each group was given an area of Alves to clean. We gave a safety briefing and Mr Haytack, the community warden, talked to the school before we set off.

The Eco group walked along the main road beside the A96. Most of the litter we found was cigarettes. This is because people fling cigarettes out the windows of their cars. At the war memorial we picked up fifty cigarette ends round about the bin. Other groups found lots of food wrappers and plastic. Some of the stranger things we found: bicycle wheel, large plastic delivery box, wire brush, full packet of cigarettes, lawn mower and a cuddly toy.

P1/2 Transition visit

What a wonderful morning meeting the new Primary 1’s. The boys and girls were a delight! We have had a very busy morning learning about routines, meeting new people, sharing, talking and listening, the P1’s met their buddies and sooooo much more. I really hope you all have some success with the plants you potted today. I will no doubt hear all about them after the holidays.

Have a lovely summer boys and girls and I cant wait to see you all again in August. 🙂

Fashion topic textiles challenge

Primary 567 are working on a textile challenge for the end of term assembly. To introduce the challenge, Mrs Hall talked to the class about life as a textiles student at Glasgow School of Art in the 1980s and what she did after she graduated. She explained the textile design process, from finding inspiration to making the finished product, and illustrated her talk with her drawings, sketches, textile swatches and finished pieces. She also showed us textile work her daughter is doing at university. It was an inspirational afternoon and the perfect start to the pupils’ textile challenge. Thank you Mrs Hall.
