Active Numeracy and Mathematics

Last week during Numeracy sessions some of the children were able to explore a variety of active tasks through rotation stations.

We had lots going on: number formation, ordering numbers (forwards and backwards), sequencing numbers (thinking about numbers that come before and after) and correctly filling empty tens frames (reinforcing number recognition and showing how numbers can be represented in different ways).

Some of the Primary 2’s have been looking at Place Value and worked very very hard at creating both three and four digit numbers. They also demonstrated their understanding of this by asking each other to make numbers and in saying how many thousands, hundreds, tens and ones were in a given number – I was super impressed with them!

We finished off with a 2D shape game on the interactive smart board, where the children had to listen to clues and find the shape being described.

Another busy end to week 4… Half way to the October holidays already, WOW!
