As you will see from the photo’s below we have been super busy in our Literacy sessions.
Last week P1/2 took part in paired reading with the children from P5/6/7. This will continue each Monday afternoon and will last for 15/20 minutes, allowing the children to choose and read books together.
Some of the P2 girls retold the story of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We all enjoyed listening to them – they were very animated! – and even got to join in with the actions and some of the sound effects.
We were able to take advantage of the sunny weather earlier this week and took our spelling and phonics work outdoors. We used chalk and water to practise spelling words and letter formation… As well as chasing bits of paper when a HUGE gust of wind decided to blow everything away!
What a competitive bunch we have in P1/2 – during our phonics session on Friday we split into teams and had a relay race to see who could find and circle the correct sound first. Mrs Thomson gave clues (either using her magic finger to show the formation of the letter, saying only the letter sound or showing only the action) as to which sound she wanted the children to find and boy were they quick!
