P1/2 class trip to Forres Library and around the shops on Forres High Street (17/02/16)

As well as visiting the museum, we also had the opportunity to spend some time at Forres Library with Marion and interview a few of the shop assistants who work on Forres High Street.

At the library we learned all about the different kinds of books the library has. We even learned that they have cd’s and dvd’s too! We listened to a story all about how we should behave in the library and how to look after books – we were very good at answering the questions Marion asked us. We learned that all of the books in the library are in alphabetical order according to the author’s surname and even got to look for a book written by an author with the same first letter in their surname as we each have… This was a bit tricky as there were lots and lots of books on the shelves!

On our journey through Forres High Street, we thought it would be fun to see how many numbers we could spot. The children were excellent numbers detectives, have a look at some of the places we found them.

We managed to visit two shops on the high street and wow, what a variety of toys we found. We even managed to find some old fashioned toys like Anne showed us when she came to visit us in class. The children enjoyed interviewing the shop assistants, and each showed a very polite and confident attitude when asking their questions.

As you’ll have guessed we had a very busy day. It was full of vast learning opportunities and best of all the children had a great time.
