Can you help us?

The Nursery to P3 Eco Group At our last meeting pupils wrote letters to the people they thought might be able to help them improve the eco garden. Who Do You Appreciate? Nursery to P3 Community Group

In our community group this morning we talked about the people in our lives that we really appreciate.  The people who make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside and who make our world’s safe, fun and enjoyable. We decided to make these people a small gift to let them know we appreciate them. We followed a recipe to make chocolate truffles.

Sign and Waste Aware

Mr and Mrs Cooper brought a special present along to our recent meeting. They kindly donated a sign, made by Alan Morrison, for our eco garden. Mr Cooper has painted the letters black so that they stand out and given the sign plenty coats of varnish. We are looking forward to seeing it hanging on the new eco garden fence. We also had Fiona from Waste Aware Moray come along

Spring Clean

The early years Eco Group were delighted to spot some signs of Spring in our Eco Garden today. The bulbs we planted are starting to bloom and we saw the buds appearing on the trees. We worked together to give the garden a general tidy up. We also added sticks and stones to our bug hotel. We think our Eco Garden is starting to take shape. 🙂

Birds and Bugs

The early years Eco Group enjoyed hanging up the bird houses and feeders in the Eco Garden. The pupils also started to make bug houses from old pallets and wood. They also worked in small groups while completing the RSPB bird spot.

I Can…

The Early Years Global Citizenship Group met again on the 31st January.  We looked at the daily routines of children from Serbia, Brazil, Ethiopia and India to see how their routines compared to our daily routines. We discussed all the different things the children from other countries could do and whether these were linked to the climate the children lived in. Once we had shared our thinking we recorded our ideas in

RSPB Visit

The Nursery to P3 Eco Group welcomed Morag from the RSPB to their recent community group meeting. She led us in a session called ‘Giving Nature a Home’. She helped us to assess our school grounds for areas that give nature a home and worked with us to identify how we can improve them.

Planting

This week the Nursery to P3 Eco Group were planting bulbs with Anne, Geordie and Willie from Dufftown in Bloom. These will look lovely in our Eco Garden when they bloom in Spring. They also helped us to plant the apple tree that we wanted.
