25.10.17 Nursery to P3 Global Citizenship Group

Yay!  Another community group meeting 🙂

We enjoy learning with our friends from other classes.

Today we started with some circle activities to strengthen our group community and to welcome Botond, a new P2 pupil, to the group.

We introduced ourselves and shared a colour we liked.  It can be a little intimidating talking to such a large group but we all spoke confidently.  A sure sign we are growing stronger as a community.  We then played “Have you Ever?”  You would not believe some of the things we said we had done! 🙂

We looked again at the map of the world and the photographs of Shakeel, Sasha, Muluken and Cidinha.  We find some of their names quite tricky to pronounce.

Today we learned about the importance of names.  We discussed who we thought gave us our names and if they have any special meaning.  Mrs Foote was named after her aunty while Miss Lees’ Mum and Dad argued about what to call her!

We drew pictures to show how we felt when people used our names properly when they wanted to play with us and talk to us.  We drew pictures to show how we felt when people said our names wrong or called us bad names.

We agreed that one thing we could do today to make the world a better place was to call people by their proper name and not call anyone bad names.

We have a few questions to ask you about how we got our names so please look out for the slip of blue paper in our book bags. 🙂
