Exploring Autumn

We have been out exploring the changing of the seasons and looking for signs of Autumn.  We had great fun playing in the crunchy leaves and throwing and kicking them high in the air.  We used our experience outside for ideas for an Autumn poem and an Autumn story.

Harvest Time

Many thanks to all of you who sent in generous gifts for our Harvest celebrations. These will be packaged up and given to Senior Citizens in the local community.

We had a lovely afternoon on Wednesday at our Senior Citizens’ Harvest Tea. Thank you to  P1, P4FL , P5N and the P6/7 choir who all performed to our visitors. We have had some lovely letters of thanks saying how much they enjoyed it.

P5 take to the Roads

Primary 5 have spent this term out on the roads as they participate in their Bikeability 2 lessons with Mrs McRitchie.

They have learnt how to check their bike is safe to use, know where to cycle on the road so they can be seen, do a safe start, safe stop, emergency stop and left hand turns. They know how important it is to do their life saver checks before making any manoeuvres.

Their lessons will continue after the holidays where they will leanr how to do right hand turns. P5 remember to cycle safely and keep reading your Cyclist Guide and Tales of the Road.

Many thanks to the parents and friends of the school who give their time each Friday to help with this important training.

Skipping to Success

This term pupils from P4-7 have been Skipping during TOPS. This is an excellent skill and a great way to keep fit as it works the whole body.

After wacthing video clips of skippers, the pupils learnt how to perform tricks such as cross overs, slalom, scissors and have used these to create theri own routines. Many have also learnt how to jump into a rope to skip with a partner and to jump into a long rope. Some have even mastered double dutch skipping! They even had a go at Hula Hooping this week.
