Disco Mayhem!

Thank you very much to the PTA and Staff who helped with the two Discos last Thursday. The children had a super time and behaved very well and boogied the night away! We hope P7 enjoyed their last Disco at Applegrove. We will miss their enthusiastic dancing and good spirits. Mrs Maclennan took lots of photos of you (below)demonstrating your cool moves!

Summer Fayre

A huge thank you to the PTA for organising another successful Summer Fayre on Saturday. We could not run it without the staff, pupils and parents who volunteered to man the stalls.  The rain stayed off for the Fair and didn’t start until the Duck Race – but the ducks didn’t mind!

There were 123 balloons in the Fiat so well done to Hollie and Rosie Fraser who had the nearest guess. Well done to Tyler Frisken who won the sweets. There were 914 in the jar. The winner of the Duck Race was Hayden Sewell 1K who wins £150 , 2nd Blair MacDonald 1K, who wins £100, 3rd Isla Brain 7H who wins £50 – not forgetting Ruby and Hope McIntosh whose Grandad’s duck was the last home and wins £25. The winner of most ducks sold was, once again, Ben Ross 4FL who wins the £50 PINZ gift voucher. Thank you to everyone who bought ducks and helped the PTA raise lots of money.

P4-7 Sports Day

We have made the decision to postpone the sports today. This was based on the terrible forecast for this afternoon and the fact that the heavy rain this morning meant that the field was already quite wet. We hope to hold the sports next Tuesday 21st at the same time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you to the parents and staff and pupils who supported one another so well at the Infant Sports on Monday. It was nice and mild and the rain stayed off. Everyone seemed to enjoy putting our new sacks to good use and took part with good spirit and determination . Well done to you all. A special thank you to the PTA mums who took it in turns to sell coffee and tea in between watching their children. Thank you also to the P6 new SFF Officers who ran back and forward with equipment and who gave out stickers (apologies if they made a few mistakes – we will get this sorted for next year!) You were all winners on the day!

What are the Teachers up to?

As part of our on-going commitment to enhance the Outdoor Learning experiences for our pupils, two members of staff attended Moray’s Outdoor Learning Festival. At a recent staff meeting, ways of working, managing risk and the benefits of working outdoors were all discussed while toasting marshmallows over an open fire. Lots of practical ideas for taking the learning outdoors were tried out. Lots of fun was had outdoors, at the end of a busy school day.

Applegrove Cricket Team

DSCN0702

Applegrove Cricket Team won all five matches in their group at the Moray Cricket Finals in Buckie today. This enabled them to compete in the final against Hythehill, Lossiemouth.

Fine batting, bowling and fielding from both teams meant for a really exciting, fast paced match. In the end, Applegrove were beaten by 22 runs. To be the runners up in Moray is a very commendable achievement for the team. We wish Hythehill the best of luck as they compete in Perth against schools from all over Scotland.

Applegrove were very good team mates, encouraging each other throughout and were a pleasure to be with for the day. We had lovely support from the Anderson’s Cricketers. “Go Apple G!”
