Magnificent Models!

The P4-7 TOPS Model Making group have been very busy over the past few weeks, getting their creative caps on and experimenting with different materials.

We started off by making our own “Pocket Pals” out of salt dough then finished them off with a lick of paint. Don’t they look great?

This week we used different types of construction to see what masterpieces we could make. From vehicles to buildings to fashion accessories, the possibilities were endless!

Lego Club in the Wee Room

Lego Club is BACK!

After the success of Lego Club last term, it started again today.

Each child chooses a model to make, and then follows the instructions carefully to build their Lego model.

Here are some photographs showing what we built today.

We were really impressed by the concentration from all the children. Well done Lego Builders! We could teach Bob The Builder a thing or two!

Moray Mile Meets Daily Mile

Tuesday April 26th was the day of launching the Daily Mile across the whole of Moray in the form of the Moray Mile. Applegrove has had the Daily Mile up and running (pardon the pun!) since October so we chose to open it out to Mums, Dads, Grannies and Grandads!

Today 6W were the first class of the day to go out for their Daily Mile. We were pleased to welcome six grown ups and a little one in a buggy. It was good to see everyone having fun and fresh air together.

Later in the morning, parents joined P6/7M and P2E for their Daily Mile.

Applegrove Do Us Proud at Kirkcaldy

DSC_0528A On Saturday, 23rd April, Applegrove were well represented at a national primary schools cross country event in Kirkcaldy.  Roslyn McRitchie performed very well as Applegrove’s only girl, coming in 36th place, showing a strong kick at the finish.  The boys team earned 3rd place in the P7 boys race.  Scott Perry was 11th, David Spencer 13th, Bruce Evans 21st, Alistair Clark 27th and Aidan Matthews 49th.  Very well done to all the runners and thank you to parents for travelling the distance.  Left to Right; Alistair Clark, Scott Perry, Bruce Evans, David Spencer and Roslyn McRitchie (missing from the photograph is Aidan Matthews who left early)

Thank you from Marie Curie

A letter of thanks has come in to school from local representatives for Marie Curie to thank parents, staff and pupils who contributed to the Easter Church collection. The letter also praised  the hospitality of the pupils and staff when they presented a cheque at the end of term concert

Victorians are back at Brodie

On Tuesday 12th P6 and P7 were transported back in time to the Victorian Era at Brodie Castle.

The visit was to bring together everything they learnt last term.  They dressed up as people who lived in the castle so that they could re-enacted scenarios in various rooms of the castle.

A big thank you to the staff at Brodie for allowing us to visit and for helping us to learn about what life was like in the Victorian times.

We’re back in the hall!

Today we had an assembly in our sparkling new hall. (Click on the picture to make it larger.)

As you can see from the photograph the hall is now a new colour, and we have lovely new blinds matching our house teams. School dinners were also served in the hall today with many children saying how nice they tasted in the new surroundings.

I wonder which class will be the first to have PE in the new refurbished school hall?
