More Orienteering Success

A huge well done to the Applegrove Orienteering team who took part in the Moray  Orienteering School’s Championship at Gordonstoun on Thursday 8th October.  It was a beautiful day in a beautiful setting for the competition. In the boys competition David Spencer came first overall, just in front of Scott Perry who came a close second.  The boys team of David and Scott along with Max Carty and Lewis McIntosh came first in the boys category and  Ashley Donald, Isla Brain, Hope McIntosh and Kirsty Hartshorne came third in the girls section . This success meant that as a whole team Applegrove were the overall winners in the Primary School section. Considering the standard of Orienteering in Moray, this is a real achievement. Once again, all eight pupils managed the course with no missed punches which helped the team to achieve the overall success. The whole team’s respectful behaviour, resourcefulness and resilience made Applegrove very proud!

Orienteering Success

Sixteen pupils from Applegrove took part in the Forres ASG Orienteering competition at Grant Park on 1st October. We entered two teams who had to negotiate the course round the park and up into the woods on Cluny Hill. The teams were delighted to discover that they won the competition with some very impressive times. For most of the pupils it was their first experience of a competition like this and they did very well. Mrs Sircus was delighted to see that all 16 of the pupils found all the markers and had no ‘missed punches’ which is a great achievement.  The A team will take part in the Moray Schools event next week.

Food Glorious Food!

Matthew Hepburn and Cerys Farquhar Watt made a pan of porridge for their class on Wednesday. While they were doing this, a team of children prepared eight different fruits and made a fruit salad. Amazingly all the children in 6W loved porridge an d fresh fruit salad. Aiden Phimister even came back with his porridge bowl asking “Please can I have some more?” After all their food preparation I think the class now know what a healthy balanced diet looks like!

Bike-ability

Primary 3 had lots of opportunities to ride their bikes safely in the school grounds during their week of bike ability.  All of the children did very well and enjoyed being outside.
