Eco Flag Success

We are absolutely delighted that Applegrove has been awarded its fifth Eco flag. An assessor visited the school before Easter and was hosted by our Eco Committee. He checked that we are still meeting all the requirements of Eco School status and  informed us of  the good news just before the holidays. We are now the first school in Moray to have gained five Eco Flags and are very proud of our School’s commitment to  sustainability education and  caring for the environment. A special thank you goes to Mrs Newlands, The Eco committee, Mrs McGregor and the Gardening Club for all their hard work to help us to retain this award. Well donePicture 008 (Small)

Ghana Link

We are busy rekindling our links with our partner school, SDA Primary, Asamang which is near Kumassi in Ghana. Mrs Maclennan has visited the school and last year Mr Acquah, a teacher from the school, came to Applegrove during our Ghana week. We are busy exchanging letters about our experiences of Easter and hope to set up a video conference this term with the pupils.

Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships

We are very proud of all our runners who took part in the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships in Kirkcaldy on Saturday 18th April. Around 100 runners took part in each race so our results were excellent. Girls: Luci Murdoch 9th, Charlotte Allan 51st and Summer Teasdale 57th. Boys: Ben Cameron 2nd, Carey Flavell 13th , Scott Perry 42nd , David Spencer 61st and Alex Grant 75th. The girls’ team came 8th overall and the boys’ team 3rd. These are fantastic results for Applegrove in a National Competition. Well done to you all and a huge thank you to all who have supported  the runners. Photos to follow
