Learning aboot Burns!

Applegrove all had the chance to have a wee a taste o’ haggis and also a taste of what is involved in a real Burns Supper on Friday. The canteen staff put haggis on the menu and many of us tried it – It shows that we are resilient and are willing to try new things. It was so popular the canteen actually ran out ! Sorry if you were at the back and missed out. On Friday afternoon at RO we all got a sneaky peak of some of the entertainment items which P6 and P7 will be doing at their Burns supper on Monday 26th . Mrs Maclennan brought in a Haggis and Cody and Logan from 7G recited the Address to the Haggis. 6W recited The Puddock, an old poem by a local poet about a frog who thought he was something special – only to be eaten by a Heron! Some other 7G pupils recited a scots poem about a ‘mobile phone’ (obviously not a Burns one!). 6/7M finished off our mini Burns Supper by performing a drama version of the Immortal Memory – the part of the Burns night where the life and work of Burns is remembered. We learned that Burns nearly went to Jamaica at one point and that he died after an eventful life at the age of just 37.
