We are offering our families an opportunity to come and meet the staff from Midlothian Sure Start.
In response to some of your feedback and questions this year the Nursery staff have met with Midlothian Sure Start to plan a couple of informal events. Both sessions will be held in the creche at drop off times. If these events prove to be a success we will continue to work with Sure Start to offer sleep advice clinics and much more!
Hope to see you all there.

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2015. January and February has been a really busy time for us in Nursery as we welcomed all our new children and I am pleased to report they have settled really well! I would like to thank all our parents and staff for their support with this.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s time in Nursery please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Nursery team. We take great pride in working as a team and have regular meetings to ensure we are doing our best to get it right for every child in our care.
Many thanks for your continued support
Kerry Knight, Class TeacherWe rely on our snack money to provide exciting experiences and new resources for our Nursery children. This term we hope to book Cool Creatures to link with our work on zoo animals. Mrs Duffy SCCDW sends home snack envelopes each week. Please contact Mrs Duffy if you have any questions or issues with snack money.

Many of our pre-school parents have been asking advice on ways to support their child with writing and reading as they think ahead to starting school. Here are some of my favourite links and ideas. I hope it helps!
Cbeebies have a really helpful guide to teach your child to read. The guide also includes video clips to help you become more familiar with phonics. On the main cbeebies website you can find the Alphablocks page where you can play games and watch clips together.
Teach your monster to read – this website was a huge success in my P1 class last year. The game is free to play online or you can pay £2.99 to play it on the ipad. I highly recommend this game.
Oxford Owl – again this is free to join. You can read books online and play games. The website also has a section for maths games. Continue Reading →

Thursday 5th March is World Book Day. I have gathered some of the best links together to help you decide what to wear on the day!
Please keep checking back as I will add new links later this week. You can view some of the Lawfield costumes from last year on the school website.
