What is Trauma?
An event in life that a child finds overwhelmingly distressing or
emotionally painful. This often results in lasting mental and physical effects.
Trauma as a Barrier to Learning
- Difficulty self-regulating.
- Difficulty forming relationships.
- Struggle to trust adults.
- Negative thinking.
- Hypervigilance.
- Difficulty concentrating.
- Memory problems.
- Organisational problems.
