Identifying key structural barriers: exploring examples of effective structural arrangements: e.g. sound EAL service-level agreements, protected consultancy time, effective resource allocation, clear models of practice. The need for role-clarity: defining your role – Definitions of consultancy and collaboration. Achieving clarity and flexibility
2-INTRA-PERSONAL BARRIERS
Exploring these from the perspective of the EAL teacher and the class teacher: Identification and collation of main barriers. Individual reflection and whole-group feedback. Implied challenges and possible solutions.
3-INTERPERSONAL BARRIERS
Building positive, collegiate relationships: Theoretical perspectives and practical applications. Practical exercises on:

- 2. The tension between Positive Regard and Congruence
- 3. Being assertive
4-A PRACTICAL MODEL FOR REGULAR REVIEW AND PLANNING WITH CALSS TEACHERS
Introduction to the “15 minute meeting model” for consultancy and collaboration. Reviewing the skills. Practice session with the model followed by whole-group feedback and discussion.
