Why do I want to become a teacher?

I initially started to want to be a teacher, as I had a great relationship with them, during my time at school. I feel like if a pupil has a strong relationship between the teacher and pupil, then this will have a positive effect on the child’s learning. Seeing children grow and develop is a massive factor in becoming a teacher. Especially at the primary level, as you can see the improvement within the class, as the year goes on.

I also feel being a teacher can give back to the local community. I know how much a child can impact a life. By making a difference in a child’s life is crucial, allowing them to reach their highest potential, but also caring for all child’s needs. I was allowed the opportunity in school to support the children in the younger age groups and that definitely made teaching to be a possible career for me. I was able to work one-on-one with the individuals to improve their language, literacy and numeracy skills. I further built relationships, which meant the pupil was able to trust me, this ended up in myself and the teachers around me seeing an improvement in not only academically but also in behavior as well. At that moment, that’s when I knew that I wanted to be a teacher.
