Gin has been won!

gin

Many, many thanks to Katie Risk for the amazing gin hamper she gave as a raffle prize, to Nursery.  We now have a fantastic £395 to put towards a new play house for the garden.  We will buy another one in the Spring and Katie even has some handy parents lined up to help us put it up!

The lucky winner was Drew’s mum, Caroline. What a brilliant prize!

Happy New Year Everyone! Welcome Back!

All staff would like to wish everyone in our nursery community a very Happy 2017 and say a huge thank you for all the beautiful gifts – we are such lucky teachers!!!  We are also considerably heavier than we were before Christmas so the diets start this week!

We started this morning with a flood- our water filter leaked and the hall was inches deep in water.  Our lovely cleaner, Grace, did a champion job of clearing it up, but the floor was not dry by 8 o’clock and we had to start the nursery day in the Infant Gym Hall.  We were back in by 9.30 though and had a lovely morning.

Tomorrow – Friday – we have our first music session of the year with Susan and Mr Snappy!

Next week our pre-schoolers should register for Primary 1 -(wow! time is flying past!  It’ll be June before we know it!)

Ho,Ho,Ho it’s nearly Christmas!

Apologies for the distinct lack of news from last week – hoping to remedy this with Christmas Party and Train Trip photos tonight!  We had a really lovely day on Friday and Santa visited our party and even brought presents!

This week is a short one – just 3 days!

Monday morning – we are visiting Cairns Church to see the P1 Nativity.

Tuesday – Gym for Orange, Blue and Yellow Groups.  Paths for Red and Green groups – learning about compliments this week!

Wednesday- LAST DAY OF NURSERY!  Xmas deccies sadly come down and the elves are evicted till next year!

ALL STAFF WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OUR NURSERY COMMUNITY A FABULOUS CHRISTMAS AND A REALLY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Monday morning again! A week and a half to go till the holidays!

This week in Nursery we are getting very Christmassy!  We are making Christmas Reindeers with our handprints in the art area and putting the finishing touches to our Christmas presents.  On Friday we had an unscheduled visit to the town hall to see Hopscotch Theatre’s production of Aladdin.  We were transported to “Pantopia”  where Aladdin and his mum were running a laundry business.  There were lots of funny jokes about smelly socks and big pants and we all had great fun booooing at the baddy and cheering Aladdin and the Princess.  It all ended happily ever after, thank goodness – and we came back ready for our snack!

This Tuesday is gym day for Red and Green Groups.  Paths this week is all about giving and receiving compliments.

Many thanks to everyone who brought food in for our food bank box- we are still collecting this week so if you want to make a donation the box will be in the hall till the end of the week.

The Gin Hamper Raffle is proving very popular and tickets are still available – The draw will take place on Tuesday 20th to allow time for the winner to pick it up and have a very jolly Christmas!

Our Parties are on Friday and we will be having special visits from Santa in both the morning and the afternoon.  Our all day children will be at the afternoon party, having had a wee train trip in the morning.  If your child doesn’t come to Nursery on a Friday, you are still welcome to bring them along to meet Santa at 11am or 3.15pm.

Next week we finish on Wednesday 21st December for our Christmas Break and Nursery is closed until Thursday 5th January.

Light box laboratory with Professor Ian!

This morning Ian combined lots of different sensory toys on the light box – the effect was brilliant!  Different coloured bubbles were moving up and down!  It looked like a busy laboratory – all that was missing was his wee white coat!

Win Gin and help us rebuild our playhouse!

gin

Last month some vandals burned our garden playhouse and damaged it, so badly we will  have to demolish it.  One of our lovely nursery parents, Mrs Katie Risk- had a brilliant idea.  She has donated an amazing Gin Hamper with £150 worth of gin and tonic, which we are raffling to raise money to pay for another playhouse.  Needless to say this was very popular with the staff, who have already bought their tickets! Tickets cost £2 each or £5 for 5!  Anyone over 18 can buy a ticket and tickets are available in the Nursery.   Best of luck to everyone!!

Food Bank

At this time of year, we teach the children about the joy of giving.  We also like to remind ourselves and introduce them, to the fact that not all people in the world are as lucky as us.  Eileen had a good idea – that we should collect for the local food bank, to provide help for people in our own area that are struggling this Christmas.

If you would like to join us, we have put a box in the hall.  There are a list of Urgently Required items as well as a list of possible Christmas Items.  Many thanks for any donations!

Monday morning is here again!!

It’s another frosty one!!  Many thanks to everyone who came along yesterday to help plant in our orchard!  It’s beginning to look very lovely and we managed to get the trees in before the ground hardened up again!

This week we are really getting in the mood for Christmas – our Christmas Concert is on Tuesday 6th December at 11.00am in the Infant Gym Hall.  If your child doesn’t normally attend on a Tuesday or is an afternoon person, and you would like them to take part, please bring them to Nursery for 10.45am.  If they would like to wear something Christmassy or have a Santa hat, it would add to the festivity of our show, but feel no pressure. Everyone is welcome to come and see us, so please feel free to bring grannies, aunties, grandpas etc to join in the singing!

We are busy this week with lots of Christmas Craft and making some special presents.  There still seems to be an infestation of elves in the nursery, so who knows what might happen this week!

Susan is coming in on Friday with Mr Snappy and friends and we are looking forward to playing along with all her special percussion instruments and finding out what Mr Snappy has in his backpack to teach us about this week.
