Children’s Survey

We recently had a survey to ask our children to help us to decide on a theme to decorate our nursery toilets. The children were asked to choose from a shortlist based on children’s interests last session. A big THANKYOU to all the children who took part in our survey. The theme with the most votes is SEA-LIFE. We have decorated the children’s toilets with lots of new brightly coloured stickers. Look at the stickers below. There are starfish, crabs, fish, shells, sharks and seahorses! Do you have a favourite?

There were lots of votes for FLOWERS and DINOSAURS too so we have decorated other areas of the nursery with these stickers. Do you think you will be able to find them when you arrive?

A letter for the children!

Dear Parent

Please see below a letter for our Milngavie EYC children explaining a little bit about what they will see and do at the centre. Please share this letter with your child.

Thank you.

Dear Children

We are really looking forward to seeing you at nursery. Some of you will be coming back after a long break and others will be joining us for the first time. We have missed you so much and we cannot wait to see you. We are really looking forward to welcoming our new children to the centre and introducing you to new friends. It is time for us all to have fun learning all sorts of new things together.

Our nursery is a fun place to be!

We have made a few changes over the break. Here are some photographs of the Daisy Room (with the playground) and the Rainbow Room (with the garden).

Daisy Room – Would you like a cup of tea?

Daisy Room – Welcome Home!

Daisy Room – What can you see when you are high up at the lookout point?

Rainbow Room (Garden) – Our boat ‘Finn’

Rainbow Room (Garden) – Welcome to Fairy Land.

Rainbow Room (Garden) – We love outdoor play!

Rainbow Room (Garden) – Our new stage and drawing board! Is there a show on today?

There are lots of things to see and do in the Daisy Room and the Rainbow Room – we think you will love them both!

In the Rainbow Room you will see Fiona, Pam, Juliana, Angela and Erin.

*Please see previous posts for staff photographs and introductions.

We are looking forward to seeing you very soon. Your grown-up will bring you to nursery and our staff will show you a big smile and say ‘hello’. We will look after you until your grown-up collects you. Everyone is very friendly. There will be time to play inside and outside, meet new children who will become your friends, have a snack together (we often have fruit at snack-time) and hear a special story. You will have a lovely time. Then when your grown-up collects you we will say ‘goodbye’ and wave to you as you leave.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Love from Caroline, Lynn, Kate and all the staff at Milngavie EYC

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

It has been a very exciting and busy week at Milngavie EYC!

Our staff have been preparing the centre for the start of the new session. We have made a few changes to keep everyone safe and healthy. The nursery is looking great and we are all set up and ready to go!

Parents will be receiving an email over the next day or so with information about access points to the centre for August. We have split children into 2 groups.

The Daisy group – please access the centre via the playground gate.

The Rainbow group – please access the centre via the garden gate.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this challenging period.

We are really looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Introducing Fiona!

Hi my name is Fiona. I have been an Early Years Worker since 2007 and have been working at Milngavie EYC, Mondays and Tuesdays, since April 2019.

Since I was young I’ve always known I wanted to work with children.

As an Early Years Worker I treasure the fun times, the ‘unplanned’ moments, the achievements (big and small), the laughter and answering lots of questions every day!

My favourite colour is blue!

My favourite treat is Ginger Cake from a local bakery near my home!

I love all animals – I couldn’t possibly pick one!

I also love stories, songs, music and dance!

When I’m not at work I enjoy gardening, baking, reading, yoga and walking.  When I can I like to go horse riding too.

For me, going clothes shopping always involves coming home with another pair of crazy patterned cosy socks!

Working at Milngavie is definitely rewarding.  With my colleagues I feel part of a community supporting each child as they learn, grow and develop!

Outside of work I like to keep myself healthy  by walking, cycling and going to the gym.

Introducing Julie!

Hi I’m Julie!

I have worked in the nursery for 23 years and love helping the children learn through playing and having fun. Every day is different and I still enjoy learning new things from our children and families.

I love snuggling up on the sofa and reading lots of fun stories, especially the ‘Gruffalo’. My favourite nursery song is Aiken Drum which we sing a lot!

My favourite colour is turquoise because it reminds me of the sea which I really like to swim in when I’m on holiday.

I like cuddles!!!

I have 2 big boys called Kyle and Luke who came to our nursery when they were little. Xx
