What is Eco Schools?
The programme encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it.
At the centre we use an Eco Folder to access and support learning of all the Eco Topics. This includes, information on what each topic is, ways to support this at nursery and at home and visual prompts for children to understand more effectively. Additionally, activities and opportunities for staff to use with the children during the session. Curriculum links are provided to interlink and support staff and children’s learning. Each month we have a different focus on one of the Eco topics to allow ourselves and the children a better understanding on how we can care for our planet.
Eco Committee
We have provided the opportunity for parents and carers to visit the centre and be part of our Eco-Schools journey. Taking part in the decision making towards the Green flag and understanding how they can make a different at home with their children! At the end of each term, we provide a meeting with the Eco committee to discuss our progress over the term and our future plans, this also gave the opportunity for parents and carers to express their views, contribute towards our planning, and suggest new exciting ideas.

- We hosted an Eco Stay & Play for our families to join in with and learn about a range of eco topics in a fun and engaging way.
- We provide our families with an Eco home learning pack to support learning at home.
- We had a fantastic turnout for our first beach clean. Roughly 50 children were involved in helping to clean our local beach.
