PEEP

The Peep learning together programme helps parents, carers and practitioners to make the most of the learning opportunities in everyday life, supporting their children’s learning through play.  Peeple is a charity that trains practitioners and works alongside families to support their children’s development.

At Largs, we provide Peep sessions for our new families before they start within the centre.  These sessions help to build relationships between staff, parents and children, giving the families a sense of reassurance before their child starts nursery.  It also allows for the children and families to become familiar with the nursery setting prior to them starting nursery.  Before Covid, we also provided Peep sessions for babies/children and families within our community which were very well attended.  These aimed to help support parents/carers to build strong bonds with their children through play experiences.  The Peep sessions were also another way to help narrow the attainment gap which appears even before children reach nursery/school.

These Peep sessions included a variety of experiences for the children and parents/carers to participate in and learn together.  We make the most of day to day learning opportunities such as listening, talking, singing, playing and sharing stories together.  These sessions also aimed to give parents some simple ideas to try at home with their children.
