Making an Application
3-5 Place
Parents whose children are scheduled to start nursery in one of the 3 intakes I.e. August 2025, January 2026 & April 2026 should register when this goes online, this is usually in February. North Ayrshire Council advertises this in the local press.
If your child is currently eligible for a 3-5 Early Years place you can apply at any time throughout the year by completing a registration form. This should be completed online at https://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/admissions-and-enrolment/early-years-centre-enrolment.aspx whereby it will be processed.
Eligible Two Year Olds
For an entitled 2 place in our 2-3 room you can apply online at https://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/admissions-and-enrolment/early-years-centre-enrolment.aspx or by an external agency through the Named Person service (e.g. Health Visitor).
Not all 2 year old children are eligible for funded ELC. Your 2 year old child may be eligible if you receive one or more of the following:
- income support
- income based job seeker’s allowance*
- income based employment and support allowance*
- incapacity benefit or severe disablement allowance
- state pension credit
- child tax credit but NOT working tax credit, with annual household income below £18,725*
- both maximum Child Tax Credit and maximum Working Tax Credit with annual household income below £8,717*
- support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Universal Credit – take home pay below £726 per month*
*Income thresholds vary annually
Funded ELC may be available if your 2 year old child:
- is subject to a Kinship Care Order
- is subject to a Special Guardianship Order
- is looked after by a local council, for example ‘care experienced’ (foster care), compulsory supervision order, North Ayrshire Child Protection Register
- has a parent who is ‘care experienced’
Before North Ayrshire can confirm and allocate a 2 year old place, they must carry out eligibility checks.
If your 2 year old is eligible for a funded place, ELC will start in the term after their 2nd birthday.
If your child currently attends LEYC, you do not need to re-register for the following year, we will send out a pattern form for you to complete. These allow you to state if you wish to keep or change the pattern you currently have.
