Assessment

Assessment

In the centre assessment is ongoing.  Every child in the centre has a ‘Special Book’ which is a record of what children ‘can do’.  Ongoing observation is carried out by staff within the playrooms.  Through observation and monitoring staff then evaluate this to establish continued steps for development for individual children. Parents will be involved in identifying personal learning targets for their child each term. We will use Seesaw posts and observation stickers to show you how your child is progressing.  In the 3-5s we use trackers to record children’s learning under Health & Wellbeing, Literacy & Numeracy. Staff will pass their trackers onto their primary one teacher, as well as having discussions with them; this is to ensure they can build upon their prior learning. This also enables the primary one teacher to take over where the Early Years Centre has left off and ensures your child is not repeating areas that they have already learned.

  Trackers 3-5

Please speak to your child’s keyworker if you wish to take your child’s special book home to lookover. Every child’s special book is unique to them and children can choose how to decorate their book this can be with pens, paint, stickers, collage materials, glitter, sequins etc.
