At Largs Early Years Centre we aim to support our children and families, health and wellbeing.
We considered how we could better support families in times of change and loss. Previous training had been provided by Educational Psychology. Staff also researched this area.
It was recognised that coping with grief and supporting children through change and loss can be an emotional time. Adults and children can respond and process grief or change in different ways.
Therefore a “Little Bag of Love” was created. The aim of the bag is to offer support, ideas, resources and strategies to help families in their journey.
Parents are encouraged to read through the pack and decide what best suits their families needs and beliefs. The resources within the pack are all kept by families to allow them to work at their own pace and be able to revisit experiences.
Some of the resources are –
Creating your own memory jar and adding in special moments.
Stories that allow children to reflect and talk about their feelings or even just to listen to and feel comforted.
