Build The Web – Transform a basic website into a masterpiece!

This live lesson will introduce learners to coding websites using HTML and CSS the languages of the web! 

Learners will be given a basic pre-built website that generates random facts about computing.  They will be guided through how to customise it using HTML and CSS.

This session, facilitated by Rebecca from Code Club is aimed at learners at the start of second level or who have had little or no experience with Scratch. Watching nature is a brilliant way to relax, but wildlife doesn’t always come along when you want it to. In this project, you will make a butterfly garden where each butterfly flies in exactly the pattern you tell it to.

IMPROVE your Coding With Scratch – Lost In Space

This session, facilitated by Rebecca from Code Club is aimed at second level learners and above who have experience with Scratch and are confident at navigating the interface. Improve your Scratch skills with Code Club! Join Rebecca from Code Club and create a “Lost in Space” animation. This project is most suitable for learners who have some familiarity with Scratch coding and the Scratch interface.

Databases are used by organisations across the world.  They power websites, social media platforms, stock control systems and schools to name but a few! BUT… Did you know that databases have their own language?  In this session, you’ll learn the basics of this language to try and solve puzzles by querying databases online.

Barefoot Live – Tinkering With Scratch

Isabella will guide learners through two main tasks in this beginner’s session; firstly, pupils tinker with an existing Scratch program, which is an animation of two characters chatting, before then tinkering with a blank project in Scratch.  This interactive session is for P4-5 classes / learners at the end of first level, beginning of second level, in schools in Scotland.

Learners will plot sets of information (bunkers, wind farms and data centres) onto a map of Scotland to work out possible locations of the secret lair. Along the way they are introduced to the basics of how the internet works with data centres and undersea fibre optic cables.
