My Pet Star – Children’s ASN Read Along & Altogether Sing Along

Join this 30 min accessible Live Read Along of ‘My Pet Star, with Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Joanna Courtney from CALL Scotland.  My Pet Star by Corrinne Averiss and Rosalind Beardshaw is one of the wonderful books included in this years  Bookbug Primary 1 Family Bag, gifted to all Primary 1 children in Scotland by Scottish Book Trust and is all about little girl who finds a lost star and takes it home and cares for it, just like a beloved pet.

Joanna will take us through an accessible format of the story and we invite you to turn on cameras* and microphones* to enable the children to join in with us, by commenting and answering questions using the BookBug symbolised resources  visual supports either as printable PDFs, or as printable overlays for communication devices used in your class; Big Mack, Go Talk 9+, Little Steps. You can also download and use the digital recorded communication board ‘Sounding Board app story board’ .able file for iOS app Soundingboard on your iPads.  Please download the appropriate symbolised resources for the children in your class ahead of the read along for My Pet Star. Please scroll down to My Pet Star options.

At the end of the story we will invite everyone to join in on an altogether sing along of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Brian Clark from the Technologies Team at Education Scotland will play the tune on his guitar and help us to sing together in time. You are welcome to join in with musical instruments of your choice too!
