Curriculum

At Craigton, our curriculum is carefully planned to provide children with a broad, balanced and progressive learning experience across all curricular areas. Our curriculum rationale outlines the values, approaches and experiences which support learning across the school.

The curriculum and approaches to learning are regularly reviewed and developed to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our learners. Through this, we aim to support children to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Learning is designed to make meaningful links across curricular areas and real-life contexts, helping children understand the relevance of their learning and develop important skills for life, learning and work.

Our curriculum is underpinned by the following principles of Curriculum for Excellence:

  • Challenge and enjoyment
  • Breadth
  • Progression
  • Depth
  • Personalisation and choice
  • Coherence
  • Relevance

These principles support ongoing reflection, evaluation and improvement across the school community.
