Curriculum

Airport House has one classroom and one full time class teacher, who focuses on supporting our young people with their literacy and numeracy.

We work alongside each young person’s school to ensure continuity in their education.

Wider Achievement

Our young people are encouraged to complete activities that help them work towards other qualifications such as Personal Achievement and Personal Development Awards, explore volunteering/work experience opportunities and to complete an enterprise project. Young people’s wider achievement sessions are interest led.

Health and Wellbeing

Our young people’s health and wellbeing is supported through work completed with our Children’s Services Workers. We have a range of resources that cover all aspects of teenage health and wellbeing. Many of our young people have large gaps in their education so we also use RSHP (Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood) guidance and resources when appropriate.

1-1 Sessions

Each young person is allocated a Key Children’s Services Worker and at least one 1-1 session per week with their Key Worker to focus on discussing overall wellbeing and setting goals and targets.

Paired or Group Session Opportunities

When our young people feel ready, we encourage working with others in pairs or groups so that they build on their social skills as well as regulating their emotions. Our young people are always supported with this. Young people have the opportunity to work with others in a variety of different ways such as baking/cooking in the kitchen, projects in our workshop, playing board games or fundraising activities!

Partnership Working

We work in partnership with parents and carers, schools and organisations, such as Skills Development Scotland, High Life Highland, Youth Action Service, Lyth Arts Centre, DYW, Planet Youth and Crocus.
