The format
Ankur Debates invites a range of speakers to address a specific question. Following the presentations the audience get their say, breaking into small, facilitated groups to examine the question, respond to the presenters and put across different points of view. Working together we will identify what steps we can take to start our own revolutions.

Ankur is looking for a team of volunteers to help facilitate a new debate series.
Volunteers will be interested in working with people, confident communicators

Throughout the year, Ankur Debates will invite a diverse range of speakers to
discuss a series of questions. The first debate is part of the Mayfesto programme
on Friday 18th May at Tron Theatre Glasgow. The question is What kind of
revolution does Glasgow want?

The format of the debates involves a series of presentations followed by the
audience breaking up into groups to discuss the issue. These small group
discussions are facilitated by volunteers.

Volunteers should be interested in working with people and confident
communicators. Training will be provided and Ankur will cover local travel expenses by public transport.

Availability
Volunteers need to be available on Friday 18th May:
Training – 5.00 – 6.30pm.
Event – 7.00pm – 9.30pm

Theatre Jezebel return to the Tron Theatre this spring with an interesting adaptation.
In Lady M, Theatre Jezebel explores the relationship between Shakespeare’s iconic power couple. Lady Macbeth: cold, irreligious, manipulative and demonic or charming, attractive,ambitious and devoted to her husband? The three weird sisters: who are they and what part do they play in the demise of Lady M?

Which fate and metaphysical aid doth seem

Teachers Group

Tron Participation are keen to start a working relationship with teachers as we expand the services we provide for schools, both on Glow and an outreach capacity. Our next teachers’ group will be Wednesday 16th November at 6pm. Book a place and join us for discussions, workshop ideas and resources. Summer at the Tron

Tron Participation has been quite busy this Summer with our Tiny and Tall Tales workshops, all of which were a huge success. We ventured into the jungle, we met a bear,we made magical potions and that was just in the office! lol! Look out for our Autumn programme of workshops; information can be obtained via the Tron Box Office.

From a City Balcony

Tron Young Company celebrated its first anniversary in style! In January of this year a recruitment workshop was held, which attracted young performers from throughout central Scotland. This influx of fresh talent reinvigorated the Young Company, adding new energy and dynamism to this already formidable ensemble. Meeting only once a week for a 2 hour rehearsal the Young Company began their devising journey.

Being part of Mayfesto has produced a real determination and desire, within the group, to create and perform an engaging, relevant piece of theatre. With such rich foundations as the work of Edwin Morgan and the city of Glasgow as inspiration, the creation of ‘From a City Balcony’ has been a rewarding and revealing process for all involved.

Director Lisa Gregan said “drawing a giant map of Glasgow on the rehearsal room floor was the first thing we did together. It was geographically inaccurate, the Kelvingrove Gallery cooried into Central Station and Glasgow Green threatened to engulf all other places of significance but we realised that this City connected us to Edwin Morgan, it is what we had in common. Morgan writes about the good and the bad of Glasgow and those who inhabit it, but the words always feel underpinned with a fondness we all understand. So ‘From a City Balcony‘ is our love letter to Glasgow.”

Tron Young Company used Edwin Morgan poems in their entirety as well as extracts, sometimes merely a line or two and then sometimes their own words felt like just enough. This was an engaging and thought provoking piece of theatre.
