Happy New Year from P6! This week we chatted about what we enjoyed last year and what we were looking forward to in 2020. We wrote about our goals for this year. We learned about Growth Mindset and took a quiz to see what kind of mindset we all have which was very interesting.
Yesterday we visited the Science Centre for the launch of our topic Clyde in the Classroom. We had so much fun exploring the mall and learning about brown trout. We cant wait to receive our hatchery next Tuesday.
It’s been another busy week at Primary 6 towers!
The hatchery containing the Brown Trout continues to be observed, analysed and maintained by Primary 6. We have witnessed a lot of activity with the transformation from alevin to fry on the horizon.
P6 have started submitting projects on “Iconic Females In Stem” with two children preparing to interview our Clyde In The Classroom biologist, Rona, next week!
In Numeracy and Maths , the class have enjoyed completing 4 quadrant coordinates and starting their new statistics topic.
In Literacy, children have submitted diary excerpts and participated in hot seating to help their study of the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. The children have immersed themselves in this book and shown great passion and enjoyment for it.
We have been learning about the history of the European Union, Brexit, Circular Economy and Energy.
We have really enjoyed our work on the European Union because it is so current with Brexit happening right now. We have loved watching Newsround and debating the same issues that politicians are.
We have refreshed our knowledge on angles and are now able to spot different types within shapes as well as the definition of a vertex. In literacy we had pens and good paper out for our final letter from the trenches.
We have been successful in learning about Brexit too!
We have been learning about the Circular Economy and how we can re-use and remanufacture materials to promote zero waste.
In literacy we have almost finished Coraline. We have one chapter to go and there has just been a major twist!
We were all extremely happy to have been involved in the First Ministers event. We all worked so hard to make sure that displays were looking great. We loved seeing our classmates in the newspapers and online
We now understand key vocabulary around European politics and are ready to kick on with our new topic. We have been working on characterisation and have understood the importance of building characters through detail.
Lastly, we have been so successful in meeting the First Minister. We created a great impression of the school through all our hard work.
