Parent Council

Since August 2007, all parents/carers are automatically members of the Parent Forum for their school and they have a right to establish a Parent Council to represent them.

What are Parent Councils for?

Parent Councils help parents to become more actively and effectively involved in their children’s learning.

What does the Parent Council do?

– Support the school in its work with pupils
– Represent the view of parents and carers
– Encourage links between the school, parents, carers, pupils, and wider community
Fundraising
– Involvement in the appointment of senior school staff

How above can be done? How parent’s voice can make a difference?

You can email us: stpatsglaspc@gmail.com

Reach us on twitter: @StPatsGlasPC

Or catch one of us in the playground, ask a member of staff and they’ll point us out!

We are needing new members so if you can spare a little time please get in touch.

As a parent council:

We can share parents’ opinions and ideas with the head teacher and staff, and making sure those views are listened to and taken into account
– We can be involved in formulating the school priorities for improvement (the development of School Improvement Plan)
– We can help with revisiting existing school policies and support the introduction of new policies: for example,  policies in relation to uniforms, school ethos, anti-bulling strategy, homework
– We can organize fundraising activities to support our school and children. It can provide an opportunity for parents, pupils and staff to work together, have fun and raise money for school events/trips. (examples: Christmas Fair, Easter Fair)
– We can try to involve as many parents as possible in school life and make sure nobody is excluded
