Web Searching in P1

Children in P1 & 2 learned to search Google Images using words they could spell from their knowledge of phonics. They were able to find images of ants, bats, dogs etc. and then draw their own pictures to create a Picture Dictionary.

Children are now familiar with using a search engine for information.

#HASHTAG

Our Digital Leaders created a thought provoking piece of digital art for the school’s Art Celebration Day.

They decided to focus on societies obsession with social media (snapchat, instagram, twitter etc) and how people are editing how they really look.

Have a look at the pictures below to see our installation and some edited and filtered Digital Leaders!

Digital Art in P6

Primary 6 have been reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.  We looked at the cover for the book and discussed how the illustrator created the cover.  Some people said it was drawn by hand, some said a computer.

We decided to recreate the book cover ourselves by sketching with a pencil then colouring using the Notes app on the iPad.  Our results are above.

Creating Animations in Class 2

In Class 2 we watched some Animations that we all know and love – like Toy Story and Frozen!

We then used the website ABYA.com to create our own animations.

P6 and P6/7 Digital Spreadsheets & Charts

I can extend and enhance my knowledge of digital technologies to collect, analyse ideas, relevant information and organise these in an appropriate way.

TCH 2-01a

We have been learning to create digital tables and charts using the iPad ‘Numbers’ App.  To do this we have collected information, put the information in to a table and then created bar and pie charts.  We think this information is more professional than drawing a graph, and it means we can share our data in emails or in presentations.

Researching in P5

I can extend and enhance my knowledge of digital technologies to collect, analyse ideas, relevant information and organise these in an appropriate way. TCH 2-01a

I can use digital technologies to search, access and retrieve information and are aware that not all of this information will be credible. TCH 2-02a

Primary 5 are learning about the topic of Hearing Loss with their teacher Ms Newall. In order to widen their knowledge on the topic they have been learning how to research using an iPad.

To do this they had to become familiar with the Safari and Notes apps and how these can enhance our understanding of a topic.

Mr Stewart was able to airdrop a website (with information on Hearing Loss) to each pupils iPad and they then copied and pasted and important information from that website in to their Notes app.

They discovered new information, like ex President Bill Clinton wears a hearing aid!

Well done P5 and we will continue our research next week.
