Language Ambassadors

Saint Roch’s Primary School has a diverse population with over 30 languages spoken including British Sign Language. Our school Language Ambassadors represent 18 of our school languages and are highly skilled bilingual communicators who are fluent in English and at least one other language.
This group meet on a weekly basis, and have completed a special training programme to enable them to effectively carry out their responsibilities in school. These include;
  • supporting new pupils for whom English is an additional language
  • raising awareness of languages in and around the school
  • acting as buddies for other children learning English
  • planning and hosting a number of Language themed activities over the school session
  • celebrating diversity and culture
  • promoting learner identity
  • linking with the wider school community
  • supporting in gaining accreditation for a British Council International School Award
