The Appeal by Janice Hallet

This book was my favourite of the month. The whole story is told through emails, text messages, newspaper articles and more. It tells the story of several people and the impact of a young girls cancer diagnosis on a town however not is all as it seems.

Stasiland by Anna Funder

This book was my favourite of the month. It tells the stories of people who lived in East Germany after the Berlin Wall was erected and also how many East Germans felt after its collapse. A really interesting insight into the everyday life of East Germans.

March

Witch Hunt by Ian Rankin

The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri

The Marriage by K.L Slater

The Young Team by Graeme Armstrong

It was a close tie between ‘The Beekeeper of Aleppo’ and ‘The Young Team’ but ‘The Young Team’ won due to the familiarity of the story with some of my own experiences growing up in the West of Scotland. This book explores numerous issues including poverty, alcoholism and gangs to name a few. It looks at how young people may find themselves in situations and the consequences of their actions.

April

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
