This Week in P7a

In numeracy this week we’ve explored different uses for, and solved calculations involving negative numbers. As well as this, we’ve used Magma Maths on our Ipads to help us show our working, and improve our problem solving skills.

In literacy we’ve been reading non-fiction books about crime scene investigation, mangrove forests, helicopter pilots and expeditions into the arctic circle. We also wrote explanation texts, which explained the process of evacuation during world war 2.

In health and wellbeing we completed our gymnastics unit by performing a series of movements and group balances. As part of our P.A.T.H.S unit about respect we learnt about the importance of fair trade, and working conditions in developing countries.

Today we explored the theme of diversity through our class novel, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. We focused on how the characters respond to the prejudice they encounter in Nazi Germany, and the importance of speaking out against facism.

P7a have been collaborating really well during our traitors game; sharing ideas and listening to each others views, as well as working together to decipher clues. Unfortunately they are yet to catch a traitor. 😕

Term 3 Newsletter and This Week in P7a

P7a Curriculum Newsletter – Term 3 2025-26

It’s been a busy week in P7a. Our maths focus this week has been on measuring and drawing angles. In writing we looked at how to use technical vocabulary (related to world war) in our writing about evacuees. We’ve continued to explore this conflict in our IDL and reading work, with a focus on the D-Day landings, and the horrors of Nazi Germany, as explored in our class novel “The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas”.

To celebrate lunar new year we’ve used oil pastels to create these fabulous dragon eyes.

This Week in P7A

This week our numeracy focus has been symmetry and 3d shapes. We’ve reflected symmetry in 4 quadrants, identified properties of 3d shapes and created nets of them

Our reading focus has been non-fiction. We’ve examined Kangaroos, creating dioramas, the effects of volcanic eruption and the diary of a wild life photographer.

In Writing we planned an explanation text on evacuees during World War 2.

Our IDL focus on World War 2 involved discussing and creating propaganda posters. We also learned about Alan Turing, the enigma code, and created our own ciphers.

This Week in P7a

Our P7 enterprise was a roaring success, with stock flying off the shelves in unprecedented time.

We created non-chronological reports on our personal areas of expertise, and began new reading books.

In numeracy we’ve developed our understanding of sequences: square numbers, Fibonacci, and triangular numbers.

Friday Update.

It’s been a busy few weeks in our class. We’ve been creating pie charts and line graphs, writing about winter wonderlands and honing our badminton skills. However, we’re particularly proud of these self portraits we made, using selfies and the keynote app.

This Week in P7a.

This week P7a began planning for our enterprise topic. We’ve brainstormed loads of business ideas to raise money for the school, and have already begun to set the wheels in motion. As well as this we’ve had plenty of Halloween fun, planned some spooky stories, and completed our work on speed, distance and time.

Beatson Santa Dash 2025 – Help Us Reach Our Target

Two years ago, our school community came together to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Cancer impacts countless lives in different ways, and the Beatson continues to make an incredible difference through its compassionate care and unwavering support.

The Beatson Cancer Charity works alongside the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre – one of the leading cancer care facilities in the UK – providing vital funding for specialist staff, innovative research, and improved patient wellbeing. From emotional support and complementary therapies to cutting-edge treatments and clinical excellence, the charity ensures that patients and their families receive the best possible care at every stage of their journey.

We are proud to continue supporting the Beatson and the life-changing work they do for so many across Scotland.

This year, some of our amazing staff will be taking part in the Glasgow Santa Dash 2025 with Beatson Cancer Charity on Sunday the 7th December at Glasgow Green. Please help us to raise our fundraising target by donating to our Just Giving fundraising page. Click on the link below to access –
