Primary 6b Wallacewell Primary

First week of term 4 for P6b

We’ve had another fun and productive week, packed with learning, creativity, and teamwork! Here are some of the highlights and key learning points from our activities:

We developed our reading skills by using before reading strategies to explore our new class book and began creating our own reading journals. As the week went on, we focused on during anf after reading strategies, helping us to better understand and engage with the text.

PE, we stayed active by playing rounders and non-stop cricket, building our teamwork, coordination, and game skills while enjoying being outdoors.

In writing, we used our iPads to create a recount of our Easter holidays, helping us practise organising our ideas and writing clearly. Later in the week, we focused on persuasive writing. We revisited the basics and wrote a paragraph to persuade Miss Davidson to allow phones in class, before developing more advanced skills to “uplevel” our writing with stronger vocabulary and techniques.

In maths, we worked on division using the bus stop method. This helped us break down calculations step by step and improve our confidence with dividing numbers.

We also continued developing our French skills by writing about ourselves, helping us practise vocabulary and sentence structure in a new language.

In PATHS, we focused on understanding and managing our feelings, learning helpful strategies to stay calm and make positive choices.

We explored history by learning about the Commonwealth and creating fact files. We were also assigned different Commonwealth Games countries to research, helping us build our knowledge of the wider world.

We enjoyed some well-earned free time as a reward for our hard work and positive behaviour. To finish the week, we completed our spelling test and made the most of the sunny weather by spending time up at the pitch.
