Primary 6b Wallacewell Primary

The last 2 weeks for P6B

Primary 6B enjoyed a wide range of exciting learning experiences across the curriculum.

Literacy

We explored metaphors and similes, learning how these creative tools help to make our writing more imaginative and descriptive. We had great fun creating comparisons and sharing our ideas with the class.

We also continued reading our class novel, The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, and completed descriptive writing based on one of the chapters.

Learning focus:

  • Understanding figurative language

  • Developing descriptive writing skills

  • Using evidence from a text to inspire our own writing

Maths and Outdoor Learning

In Maths, we learned all the compass points and practised giving clear directions to our partners in the classroom and playground. We used our knowledge of angles to help us calculate accurate directions. We also enjoyed reinforcing our learning through new and engaging maths games.

Learning focus:

  • Using compass directions confidently

  • Applying knowledge of angles in real-life contexts

  • Building teamwork and communication skills

Outdoor Education – Pinkston

We had our final session at Pinkston, where we learned about predators and prey and took part in exciting survival games in the forest environment. It was a fantastic way to experience learning outdoors and apply our knowledge in a practical setting.

Learning focus:

  • Understanding food chains and ecosystems

  • Developing teamwork and strategic thinking

  • Learning through active, outdoor experiences

Health and Sport

Some pupils continued with their swimming lessons, building water confidence and improving technique.

We also learned about the Winter Olympics, exploring different winter sports and watching highlights from the games.

Learning focus:

  • Developing physical skills and resilience

  • Learning about international sporting events

  • Understanding sportsmanship and dedication

Special Visit

We were so excited to have Mrs Jodah come in and visit us and update us on all the fun things she’s been doing since she retired.

Teamwork & Responsibility

We have introduced a new class money reward system, which encourages teamwork, responsibility and positive behaviour. Pupils can earn rewards by working together and supporting one another.

Learning focus:

  • Cooperation and collaboration

  • Responsibility and positive choices

  • Working towards shared goals
