We’ve had another exciting and productive week full of learning, creativity, and teamwork! Here are some of the highlights and key learning points from our activities:
We developed our skills in PE through basketball and cricket, improving our coordination, teamwork, and game awareness. In maths, we began learning how to simplify fractions and continued building our understanding throughout the week, including learning about equivalent fractions and practising using Magma Maths. We also completed maths tests to show what we’ve learned.
In French, we created our own family trees, helping us practise vocabulary for family members and understand how to present information in another language.
Our writing skills were a big focus this week. We practised setting descriptions and explored creative writing through a Stranger Things theme, using imaginative ideas and descriptive language. We also learned how to “show, not tell” in our writing to make it more engaging. Additionally, we wrote newspaper reports about the Highland Games, developing our understanding of structure and formal writing.
We enjoyed hands-on learning in STEM by designing and making chairs out of cardboard, which encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Some of us also used iPads to create 3D cups, building our digital design skills. We also followed a sketchbook tutorial to improve our art techniques.
We were rewarded with free time for our hard work and positive behaviour, which we really enjoyed. At the end of the week, we attended an assembly about school values and rights, helping us understand the importance of respect and responsibility.
We also kept up with our spelling practice by completing a spelling test. In swimming, we practiced in the big pool, building our confidence and improving our swimming techniques.
