A Musical Week in P5b 🎵

The main focus for this week was getting organised for our big SHOWCASE. We don’t want to say too much just yet….. but all the practise (and singing) has well and truly started.

We have been working on our self assessment skills, specifically in writing. This is helping us to work out what aspects of our independent writing we want to improve. Many of us enjoyed this task and could see straight away what we wanted to get better at.

This week, we took advantage of the good weather and went outside to the pitch for our gym time. We all had to much fun and enjoyed the exercise…. We absolutely needed a rest after it!

Have a great weekend!

A 2 Day Week 😄

We managed to squeeze a lot of learning into our short week. We completed a Fractions assessment and many of us felt like we done well. In gym, we learned some new games taught to us by our classmates and they turned out to be really fun.
Everyone was excited on Friday to wear our bright clothes to celebrate diversity day. Luckily, we are learning all about Diversity for our IDL focus and have been having really important conversations. Today, we focused on equality and equity and what it actually means when we say something is ‘not fair’.

Have an amazing weekend!

A Speedy Week in P5b!

This week we used all our notes on Scottish Landmarks to begin our Non-Chronological report. Many of us enjoyed learning all about these and felt confident during our writing.

We wrapped up our Scottish Dancing lessons in P.E and enjoyed a mini Ceilidh to show off all of our dances. Lots of us improved our skills and we managed to remember all of the dances.

During our maths lessons, we have been developing our fraction skills. A lot of us believed this would be very tricky and didn’t think we would be able to understand it. We challenged ourselves and worked hard and actually surprised ourselves with how easy it was when we focused, worked hard and made sure we were concentrating. This was a big success for us!

Some of us feel like we have made big improvements in reading. We feel more confident when reading tricky words.

We are all looking forward to the HOLIDAY WEEKEND 😊

A Scientific and Interesting week in P5b

The visit to the Science Centre was enjoyed by all. Everyone enjoyed the challenges on the top floor especially the sprint challenge, hanging challenge and the jumping challenge. The Planetarium was interesting and we learned some new information for our upcoming Space topic.

Our new Scottish dance for the week was Strip the Willow. To start with, we found it tricky to coordinate but by the end some of us got used to the steps and enjoyed it. Some of us liked spinning around and switching partners.

We felt confident with French numbers this week and enjoyed practising these.

Most of us have also developed our skills with fractions and can confidently work independently. We are moving on to fractions of amounts and using our division and multiplication strategies to help us.

Have a great weekend!

A speedy week!

We have been Mathematicians this week and have learned how to simplify fractions. At the beginning lots of us felt like we could not do it but by the end of the week we were so proud of the skills we had learned.

In writing, we used our notes to create a Fact File. Most of us felt like we done very well with this and managed to use appropriate headings to organise the information.

We learned the Canadian Barn Dance in Scottish dancing and practised the Gay Gordon’s and Military Two Step. When we voted as a class, it was a close call between the Gay Gordon’s and the Canadian Barn Dance being the favourite.

Everyone is really looking forward to our Science Centre trip next week!

Have a good weekend 😊

Our first post of 2026 🙌🏼

This week in Creative Enquiry, we learned about food chains and animals. We learned about a range of animals and made a poster all about it.

It was the P7 Enterprise event this week and some of us really enjoyed it. The best part was throwing wet sponges at the teacher (Miss Wylie) but some of us were sad that we didn’t get to sponge Miss Kelly.

As a class, we had highlighted that lots of us were still struggling to apply multiplication strategies. We had a bit of a recap and many of us were very proud at how much our understanding and application had improved. Some of us even challenged ourselves to harder calculations! Additionally, we applied our knowledge of the 4 operations to try and solve some tricky word problems and this was a huge success!

In P.E, we have started a block of Scottish Dancing and even thought some of us were DREADING it, we all ended up absolutely loving it and had a great time. We are looking forward to learning the next dance.

As part of Fun 51, we have been learning sign language. Most of us are looking forward to developing our understanding of this and learning even more.

Have a great weekend!

The final school week in 2025!

Of course the main event this week was the Christmas Party! We enjoyed playing all the games and dancing around. After the party, both p5 classes came together to enjoy a well earned snack and drink of juice.

Even though it was the final week, we still had to use our brains to do some work! We completed our short talks and used our targets. This was challenging for some of us and we were nervous but everyone managed and done absolutely amazing. We also completed our multiplication and division assessment, using all of the strategies we have been learning in Term 2.

Finally, to end this week we are all very excited for our visit to the ice-cream van!

We hope everyone has an amazing Christmas holiday!

Christmas is coming…… (and so is the excitement!)

Let’s start off by mentioning our Christmas writing! We watched Mog’s Christmas Calamity and created some writing based on this! We enjoyed thinking of this story from different perspectives.

We went over some multiplication and division strategies and some of us enjoyed applying these independently and working hard to remember everything we have learned before.

In Creative Enquiry, we used a range of materials to make a scene from our favourite movie.

Our IDL lessons this week have been fun. We have learned some things about Spanish foods, music and dancing. Some of us even had a go at some Flamenco dancing.

We used some digital technology to research a famous person of our choice and created a biography! We used our notes to create a short talk plan which we will be delivering next week to our classmates.

Have a great weekend and we are all very excited to be one step closer to the CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY!

Christmas has started in P5b!

It’s Christmas Door week! We have all enjoyed discussing and deciding which door design we wanted to create. Everyone has made different items to help make our door look fantastic and these activities have been a highlight for us this week.

In Creative Enquiry, we had a choice of making a parachute for Santa or an elf trap. We all made our own decision and used loads of different materials to create our item. We enjoyed this task and had lots of fun.

Most of us have been enjoying learning a new division strategy. Even though it has been tough and challenging, we have enjoyed developing our skills.

Today is the Christmas Fayre and we are all sooo excited! We can’t wait to see all of the fantastic things on offer!

Have a fantastic weekend!
