Happy Friday, everyone!

Another amazing week finished. This week, we had great daily spelling lessons every morning, had a lesson on our reading books and on the Pixar short film – ‘Piper’, and tried apples and honey during our second lesson of Rosh Hashanah. We also had an interesting investigatory social studies session in which the children, in pairs, researched local non-profit organisations and charities as part of our current Superheroes topic. Photos from these lessons have all been uploaded with this post! Importantly, we also moved onto rounding to 10s and 100s in Numeracy this week.

From next week, the children will have both of their PE sessions on Thursdays in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, they will be given a fitness session and in the afternoon, a dance session delivered by other professionals.

Many children handed in homework this week, which was great, whilst a few children did not. Please encourage your children to complete their homework at home. From next week, I will also start sending the children’s reading books home with them. The expectation is that they read every night. Can you please tell me how much or often your child read every week by leaving a written note to me in their homework jotters which are due on Thursdays.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Miss Love

Welcome to Term 1

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our Primary 4a class blog! I am so excited for the year ahead. We’ve been settling into new routines and building a positive classroom community together.

So far, we have been focusing on numbers in numeracy and the calendar in maths. In numeracy, we have looked at place value of 2-digit and 3-digit numbers, ordering numbers, odd and even numbers, and partitioning numbers. In literacy, we have focused on text comprehension of both our reading books and a short film, as well as procedural writing and the usage of capital letters and full stops. Our exciting first topic is superheroes in which we have already created artwork for.

In other subjects, we have explored emotions, been introduced to the upcoming celebration of Rosh Hashanah, and learned French.

Homework will go home on Mondays and is due on Thursdays. PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays in which we are starting off with Football and Dance.

I am really looking forward to working with you and your children this year.

Best wishes,

Miss Love
