I’m delighted to say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting back to learning with Primary 1b this week and loved hearing all about their adventures during the October break.
This week our classroom has been buzzing with creativity as we explored repeating patterns using pictures, colours and shapes.
In numeracy we’ve been diving into the story of 10, discovering number bonds in action. We had great fun learning a number bonds song and I must admit, I’ve been going home singing it myself – I hope I’m not the only one!
In literacy we’ve been revisiting our letter sounds – I can’t believe we’ve covered 12 alphabet sounds already! Our story of the week has been Room on the Broom, which inspired us to write detailed descriptions of the witch and retell the story in lots of creative ways.
We’ve had another visit from our music teacher Nicola who helped us keep count through rhythm and song. We also learned two new musical words: “forte” for loud and “piano” for quiet.
In our playroom, our learning linked perfectly with our Room on the Broom theme as we investigated forces – push, pull, and friction. The children had great fun hammering pegs into pumpkins and testing how fast cars could move on different surfaces.
A quick reminder: P.E. takes place on Monday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a P.E. kit that can stay in school during the week and be taken home on Fridays for washing.
We’ve had a fantastic start to Term 2 and I can’t wait to kick on with more learning moving forward!
It has been such a joy to see the children’s confidence grow each week and I truly appreciate all you do at home to support their learning journey.
