It’s been a fantastic time this week in our class! The children have put loads of effort into their learning and it’s crazy to think we’re almost at the September weekend.
This past week in maths we’ve continued to build on our knowledge of 2D shapes. The boys and girls have started to recognise the shapes in and around the school building and I’m sure they are beginning to spot them whilst out and about and at home. We are beginning to look more closely at the corners and sides on shapes and how many they all have. We’ve also looked at ordering numbers and using the whiteboards to practice our number formation – we’re even getting better at remembering to put the lids on the pens!
No new sounds this week in literacy as it’s been all been about practicing those SATPIN letters we’ve looked at the past few weeks. We’ve worked on using the magnetic letters and boards to form words like SIT, PAN, TAP and Mr McCusker’s favourite – NAP!
Our topic on Superheroes has ended but what a great time the children have had exploring their new topic on ‘Journeys’! We’ve talked all about how we make our way to and from school and we discussed the different types of vehicles we can name on land, water and even in the sky.
There was also a visit from the Evening Times photographer who came to take our Primary 1 class photo, we looked super smart and can’t wait to see the picture soon!
That’s all for this week, thank you again for your continued support at home!
